  Background and Objective: Life Skills is central to the holistic development of learners. It is concerned with the personal, intellectual, emotional and physical development of people. The present study investigated the effects of life skills training on anxiety and aggression of newcomer students of Islamic Azad University- Ilam city in the year 2010-2011.

  Materials and Methods : This Quasi experimental study was designed as pretest-posttest with control group. Sample population included 40 students who were selected by multistage cluster sampling and allocated in experimental and control groups ( 20 students for experimental group and 20 for control group) randomly . Boss & Perry’s A ggression Inventory (1992) and Spilberg’s Anxiety Scale (1970) were used as the research instruments. The program of life skills training was executed at 10 sessions for the experimental group.

  Results: The results indicated that life skill training decreased the anxiety (F=33.47, p= 0.001) and aggression (F=33.57, p=0.001) of students in exprimental group .

  Conclusions: Considering the results of this research and the importance of life skills, paying attention to life skills is a social necessity by wich students can be helped to improve psychological status.
