Background and Objective: Satisfaction is one of the health dimensions and in lack of attention to patient's satisfaction, health system has acted contrary to its mission. The patient's satisfaction is apparent and doing measures to increase job satisfaction in nurses can improve the quality of care and patient's satisfaction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of law enforcement of productivity improvement and performance based pay plan in patients' satisfaction.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, in two stages within 4 years, 500 patients’ satisfaction was measured by Patient Satisfaction Instrument (PSI) before and after the law enforcement of productivity improvement and performance based pay plan and the impact of this legislation on patients' satisfaction was evaluated. Independent t-test was used to evaluate the overall average of patients' satisfaction before and after implementing the rules.
Results: The study findings showed that the average of overall patients' satisfaction of nursing care before (3.19±0.41) and after (3.57±0.16) the law enforcement of productivity improvement and performance based pay plan had not increased significantly (P=0.721).
Conclusion: Probably law enforcement of productivity improvement and performance based pay plan does not have significant impact on patients' satisfaction of nursing care while in explaining the principles of these laws, one of the intended purposes is increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of health measures. It seems that implementation of such rules could not create an incentive for nursing staff to enhance their effectiveness and thereby increase patients' satisfaction.
