Background and Objective: Evaluation of neurocognitive mechanism involved in smoking can be helpful in the treatment of this dependence .The aim of this study was to compare the cognitive executive functions in frontal lobe of brain in male smokers and non-smokers.

Materiasl and Methods: The method of research was causative-comparitive. In this regard, 40 male smokers and 40 male non-smokers were selected from Tabriz, with random available sampling in 2014. To collect data ,trail making and digit span test were used. T-test was used for analysis.

Results: The findings showed that there were significant differences between smokers and non-smokers groups in cognitive executive functions of brain in Trail making test and Wechsler digit span test.

Conclusion: According to above findings it can be concluded that smoking leads to frontal brain damages and it results in poor treatment outcome. Therefore implementing cognitive rehabilitation techniques can consider in the prevention and treatment of smokers.
