Background and Objectives: Accreditation is one of the tools to improve the quality of healthcare and conceptual elements in the management of the hospital. It is very important to pay attention to the standards and their characteristics because of their important role in showing the expected performance of the hospital. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between standard features and accreditation in order to design an optimal model in public hospitals in Kerman province.
Materials and Methods: The present descriptive study was performed on 86 people in public hospitals of Kerman province in 2021. The data collection tool was two researcher-made questionnaires for standard and validation characteristics. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (one-sample t-test, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equations) were used to analyze the data.
Results: Based on the results of the descriptive statistics, the mean of standard features and validation were 4.22±0.35 and ‌4.21±0.34, respectively. The results of critical ratio coefficient and t-statistic (R2=0.735, t=13.377) and structural equation modeling results (p<0.001, β= 0.735) showed that standard features had an additive (direct) effect on validation.
Conclusions: The results showed that standard features have a direct effect on validation. In general, the characteristics set for the standards and the proposed accreditation model based on the standards are at a strong level. Therefore, the proposed model can take valuable steps in accreditation efficacy and improvement of services in hospitals. The results of this study provide useful information to policy makers and senior managers of the country's health system in order to improve the structure of hospital accreditation.
