Background and Objectives: The application of conceptual models in the nursing care provides a framework for critical thinking of nurses to examine the patient's condition, better analyze the condition, increase bedside presence, and increase the patient's participation in the nursing care.
Materials and Methods: This case study was performed on a 9-year-old child diagnosed with shigellosis hospitalized at Ali Ibn Abi-Talib Hospital of Rafsanjan based on the Roy’s Adaptation Model, with the aim of improving nursing care. The data were collected by observation, interview, and patient documentation, and analyzed in four dimensions, based on the stages of the Roy’s Adaptation Model.
Results: Nursing diagnoses in four modes _physiological, self-concept, role function, and interdependence_ were determined based on the relevant model, and nursing care was implemented and evaluated.
Conclusion: The use of a nursing care program based on the Roy’s Adaptation Model can be effective in increasing the quality of care for hospitalized children. Therefore, the utilization of this approach is recommended to the managers and nurses in the pediatrics departments.
