نقش سردبیران مجلات علمی فراتر از انتخاب مقالات است و شامل رهبری علمی، مدیریتی، اخلاقی و اجتماعی در نشر علمی می‌شود. بررسی تجارب سردبیران برجسته بین‌المللی مانند ریچارد هورتون و ریچارد اسمیت و همچنین سردبیران موفق داخلی مانند دکتر محسن رضاییان، نشان می‌دهد که مدیریت مسئولانه و رویکرد چندوجهی در سردبیری می‌تواند تأثیر قابل توجهی بر کیفیت و اعتبار مجلات علمی داشته باشد. در این مطالعه، ویژگی‌ها و شیوه‌های سردبیری دکتر رضاییان به عنوان نمونه‌ای موفق در مجله علوم پزشکی رفسنجان تحلیل شده است که شامل استمرار در بخش سخن سردبیر، تمرکز بر مسائل بومی، شفافیت، و رویکرد اخلاقی و آموزشی است. این مطالعه بر اهمیت ارتقاء جایگاه سردبیران علمی در ایران و بهره‌گیری از الگوهای موفق جهانی تأکید دارد.
