Population Attributable Fraction of Hypertension Associated with Obesity in Yazd Province in 2009: A Short Report

Background and Objective: High blood pressure is one of the most important health problems in the world. Considering that in Iran, and generally in all its provinces all its prevalence of obesity and high blood pressure among people is high, hence, the aim of this study is to determine the rate of the prevalence of hypertension in Yazd province attributable to obesity in the population of there.
Materials and Methods: In this epidemiological study, the data of non-communicable diseases were obtained. Odds ratios using the data obtained from lipid and glucose study, after standardizing the data, the population attributable risk for Yazd province based on the above formula has been calculated.
Results: In Yazd province in terms of population attributable fraction of hypertension attributable to obesity in females with the highest rate 20.3% and among males aged 45-54 years age group 5.5%In the age group 55-65 years females 8.6% Most of the population attributable fraction have.
Conclusion: Recognizing the importance of the prevalence and impact of blood pressure in cardiovascular disease, it is necessary to in the field of the prevention of the outbreak of the disease in the province of Yazd is an effective actions take place.
