Background and Objectives: Special attention is paid to the foundation of the family due to its importance in raising an individual. The aim of the present study was to determine the structural relationships between psychological capital and the ability to forgive and family empowerment through the mediation of the meaning of life and religious coping strategies.
Materials and Methods: In a descriptive-correlational study, using structural equation modeling, 400 married employees with children in Rasht executive agencies were randomly selected in 2025. The instruments used in the study included the Loutans and Avolive’s Psychological Capital (2007), Rye et al.’s Forgiveness (2001), Sham et al.’s Family Empowerment (2001), Steger et al.’s Meaning of Life (2010), and Pargament et al.’s Religious Coping Strategies (2000) Questionnaires. Pearson’s correlation method and structural equation modeling were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results indicated a direct effect of psychological capital (p=0.016, β=0.241), and forgiveness ability on family empowerment (p=0.008, β=0.272). The indirect effect of psychological capital on family empowerment was 0.1620 through the presence of meaning, 0.1085 through the search for meaning, and 0.1452 through positive religious coping. Significant indirect effects of forgiveness ability on family empowerment were observed through presence of meaning (0.1710), search for meaning (0.1426), and positive religious coping (0.1254) (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The results indicate that meaning in life and positive religious coping mediate the effects of psychological capital and forgiveness on family empowerment. Therefore, strengthening mediating variables can be effective in designing programs to promote family health and strength.
