Effect of 8 Weeks of Aerobic and Resistance with Corrective Eercise on Ground Reaction Force Components in Obese Males with Pronated Feet during Walking: A Clinical Trial Study

Background and Objectives: Obesity and pronated feet are among the disorders that can disrupt balance and gait patterns. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of a combined training course on the values of ground reaction forces in obese men with pronated feet during walking.
Materials and Methods: This study was a clinical trial conducted in Ardabil City in 2024. The statistical sample of the present study included 30 obese adult men with pronated feet that were randomly divided into training (15 individulas) and control (15 individulas) groups. The training group performed combined exercises including resistance and aerobic with corrective exercises at 3 sessions per week for 8 weeks. The control group did not receive any specific exercise program during this period. The values of ground reaction forces through a force plate were recorded. Multivariate analysis of variance was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results of the multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) indicated that 8 weeks of combined exercises significantly affected the components of ground reaction forces in obese men with pronated feet (p<0.001). The greatest effect was observed on the time-to-peak of the posterior force, which increased by 4.38%
Conclusion: The findings showed that aerobic and resistance training with corrective exercises significantly improved the time-to-peak for peak values of ground reaction forces in obese males with pronated feet during walking. However, future research should consider the specific conditions of patients when designing rehabilitation interventions.
