Abstract

Background and Objective: Despite global efforts to increase the exclusive breast-feeding, this rate is still undesirable. This study aimed to determine the applicability of the theory of planned-behavior in predicting intention to exclusive breast-feeding for six months among pregnant women in Qom in 2014.

Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study has been conducted on 240 pregnant women in Qom in 2014. Sampling was done through cluster sampling method. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS (version16) statistical software using correlation, one-way ANOVA, independent T-test and linear regression.

Results: The findings showed that 92.5% of pregnant women intended to e breast-fed exclusivelyfor six months after delivery. All three structures attitude (r= 0.63, p<0.001), subjective norms (r = 0.38, p<0.001) and perceived behavioral control (r= 0.42, p<0.001) had a significant correlation with intention. Among the variables entered into the regression model, attitude and perceived behavioral control were able to predict 43 percent of variance of intent on exclusive breast-feeding among participants (F= 60.75, R= 0.66, R2= 0.43).

Conclusion: Since the attitudes and perceived behavioral control were the significant predictors of intention of exclusive breast-feeding, considering the factors in breast-feeding educational interventions during pregnancy is essential.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Acid dyes are synthetic organic compounds with complicated chemical structures which their treatment are difficult and costly. Discharchig of these dyes into the environmen causes harmful effects on ecosystem and water quality. In this study efficiency investigation of photo-fenton process in removal of acid green 20 dye from wastewater of textile industries was assessed.

Materials and Methods: Experimental study in the first half of 2015 was carried out in environmental health engineering research center, Kerman University of Medical Sciences. Factors which influence on removal including: pH, concentrations of H2O2 and Fe2+ ,light intensity of UV, the initial concentration of acid green 20 dye and contact time were investigated. Examinations under optimum removal conditions on real textile wastewater which its quality predetermined  were also carried out. Sampling and examinations were conducted according to standard methods for examination of water and wastewater 20th edition. Descriptive statistics was used for analysis of data.

Results: Optimum removal conditions were pH = 3 [H2O2]= 0.2 mMol,[ Fe2+]=40 mg/L, UV=30 watt , the initial concentration of acid green 20 dye= 25 mg/L and time= 10 minutes. Maximum removal values were 94.62 and 73 percent for synthetic solutions and real wastewater, respectively.

Conclusion: Photo-Fenton process is an effective way in removal of acid dyes and able to remove these dyes from wastewater with high efficiency.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: The attitude of health care providers towards the elderly has an important effect on the quality of service delivery. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of health staff in Gorgan towards the elderly.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, 395 health care providers in Gorgan in 2019 were selected by census sampling method and completed a questionnaire on demographic information and attitudes towards the elderly. Data were analyzed by independent t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and one-way analysis of variance.
Results: 73 participants (18.5%) had a good attitude towards the elderly, 319 (80.8%) had a moderate attitude, and 3 (0.8%) had a weak attitude. There was a statistically significant relationship between the overall score of attitude towards the elderly and job background (p<0.001).
Conclusion: There was a moderate attitude towards the elderly in most of the participants. Designing and implementing more interventions is necessary to promote a positive attitude towards the elderly.
