Abstract

Background and Objectives: Phellinu s Quel is a large and widely distributed genus of the family Hymenochaetaceae under the class of Basidiomycetes with more than 359 species. The Phellinu s species have anticancer, antioxidant and antibacterial effects . Hitherto, 12 Phellinus species have been reported from the north of Iran. Due to their great medicinal effects and lack of investigation on Iranian species , this study was performed to investigate the host dispersal behaviour, macro- and micro-morphological properties of the species, and antioxidant activities. using the total methanol extract and it’s fractional extracts (chloroform, butanol and water extracts).

Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, the macro- and micro-morphological properties of the species were determined using the total methanol extract and it’s fractional extracts (chloroform, butanol and water extracts). The antioxidant assays were then performed. The radical scavenging capacity of fractional extracts of this fungus were evaluated by using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity and Ferric reducing-antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. Also, the total phenol content (TPC) of each extract was measured using Folin-Ciocalteau method.

Results: The results indicated that the total methanol extract showed a significant antioxidant activity. Further fractionation indicated that the butanol fraction had a stronger activity than the total methanolic extract in both antioxidant assays. The effective concentrations of the different extracts (total methanol, chloroform, butanol and water), for scavenging of 50% of generated radicals (IC50), was 30.87±2.07, 87.22±2.56, 11.98±0.32 and 229.67±0.94 µg/ml, respectively.

Conclusion: The results showed that different extracts, especially butanol extract have high antioxidant activities which indicate the presence of active components in this fraction. Considering these great antioxidant effects and its low expense , it is recommended to use this fungus in more clinical trial researches and drug manufacturing industry.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Organizations with competent and experienced managers will be more successful in achieving their goals and can reach the highest efficiency. This study could lead to more awarness about hospital managers competency.

Matrials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed during spring and summer 2010. Population included all managers of Teaching Hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, in which seven hospitals were selected as sample size by random sampling method. Research instrument was standard questionnaire of Brown Company. It was designed according to 360- degree feedback model and included 62 questions which were drawn up in eight parts with Likert 5- degree scale. Sixty three questionnaires were distributed among the managers, supervisors, peers and subordinates of managers in the hospitals by the researchers. In the data analysis the average of 80 was considered as superior competency.

Results: In terms of team work, the managers had the most potential and in terms of programming concerning competency they had the least potential. In the view of managers and supervisor, the managers in all the terms had superior competency. In view of the peers of managers and subordinates, the managers in all the terms had no superior competency.

Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, in terms of team work, the managers had the most potential and in terms of programming concerning competency they had the least potential. Therefore, considering the importance of human resource management, comprehensive training plan should be done in this field and also for continuously improving managers’ skills in teamwork, development program should be implemented.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Studies indicate that hospitals can prepare required background for participation of employees in order to achieve organizational goals through improvement of "Strategic Alignment" , "meaningful work" and " employee engagement. This study has been designed and implemented to evaluate aforementioned variables in Hasheminejad Hospital in Tehran.

Materials and Methods: This Research was a cross-sectional study. Population included 424 staff of nursing, administrative (human resource and finance) as well as auxiliary and paramedical, out of which a sample size of 202 was calculated. Samples were selected randomly in proportion to the number of people in each class. A questionnaire was applied to collect the data. Finally Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including tables and comparative analysis.

Results: In total 172 employees participated in this study. Based on the results Mean±SD scores for the strategic alignment was 31.90±4.47 out of 40, meaningful work was 32.42±4.77 out of 40, and Mean±SD score for employee engagement was to be calculated 54.19±7.34 out of 70.

Conclusion : Three variables under study show fairly desirable results. Cooperative goal setting, jobs’ allocation in the organization in terms of staff expertise and experience, considering the financial and spiritual needs of employees and allowing them to have control over their work process play a significant role in the development capabilities of human resources and improvement of each variable.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Health information plays an important role related to increasing people’s health level in today's societies and can provide appropriate condition for developing health policy and system of different countries. This study aimed to determine the health information needs and health information seeking ways among the users of Mazandaran public libraries.
Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive study. Statistical populations included 384 users of Mazandaran public libraries in 2016. A self-constructed questionnaire was used to collectdata and data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis none-parametric tests.
Results: The findings showed that the information related to "access to healthy life" and "Non-communicable infectious diseases" were identified as the most important health information needs by the average of 4.11 and 4.04, respectively. Also, 28.1% of people (103) mentioned that they highlyneed to receive information throughout the day and they also stated that doctors and TV are the most important ways to access health information (348 users, 94.8% and 326 user, 88.8%, respectively).
Conclusion: Users saythat public libraries play a great role in having access to health information resources. Public libraries also can be effective in obviating ing health information needs of all people in the society and helping them to improve their health information.
