دسترسی و کاربرد نتایج پژوهش‌های سلامت محور، عنصر حیاتی ارتقاء سلامت و کاهش نابرابری‌های سلامت است. ترجمان دانش، فرآیندی پویا و تعاملی است که شامل تلفیق، انتشار، مبادله و کاربرد اخلاقی دانش برای بهبود سلامت در تعامل میان پژوهشگران و کاربران، می‌باشد که می‌تواند باعث ارائه خدمات سلامت مؤثرتر و تقویت سیستم مراقبت‌های بهداشتی گردد. در این مقاله آموزش مداوم، به معرفی ترجمان دانش، تاریخچه ترجمان دانش، اهداف و بهره‌برداری، مشخصه‌ها و کاربران آن، شایستگی‌های و راهبردهای ترجمان دانش و معرفی یک الگوی ترجمان دانش پرداخته شده است. به طور کلی، می‌توان نتیجه گرفت که ترجمان دانش از زمان تدوین و طراحی تحقیق (نیازسنجی) آغاز می‌گردد و این بدان مفهوم است که تحقیق‌ها باید مبتنی بر نیازها و با مشارکت گروه‌های هدف و ذی‌ربطان تحقیق باشند و نتایج آنها باید به زبان ساده در اختیار تمام گروه‌های هدف، قرار گیرند.
