Background and Objectives: Motivational self-regulation strategies are deliberate approaches employed by learners to maintain or enhance their academic motivation. This study aimed to assess motivational self-regulation among undergraduate anesthesia students in Rafsanjan.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study employed a census sampling method. Data were collected using a three-part questionnaire including demographic characteristics, the Motivational Self-Regulation Questionnaire developed by Norouzi et al. (2021), and two-item researcher-designed survey questions to assess students’ willingness to learn motivational self-regulation strategies. Data analysis was performed using independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
Results: The sample consisted of 34 participants. The subscales of motivational self-regulation showed no significant associations with marital status or accommodation type. Value regulation subscale obtained the highest score. The total score had a mean±standard deviation of 97.73±17.91.
Conclusion: The undergraduate anesthesia students in Rafsanjan substantially employ motivational self-regulation strategies and express a willingness to learn these strategies. Educational and counseling programs are recommended to strengthen these strategies.
